Education and Training

Dr. Andrew Franklin is a board-certified urologist with a strong procedural background and a decade of experience in both military and civilian practice. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Baylor University before completing his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Missouri – Columbia School of Medicine. Dr. Franklin went on to complete his internship in General Surgery and residency in Urology at the University of Missouri Hospitals and Clinics. He served as a Major in the United States Air Force and a Staff Urologist at David Grant Medical Center on Travis Air Force Base. He spent several years with Asheville Urological Associates and more recently has shifted the focus of his practice to supporting numerous hospitals and surgery centers through locum tenens roles.

Dr. Franklin finds great purpose in helping patients reclaim their quality of life through advanced urological care. He is particularly passionate about procedural efficiency and outcomes, aiming to deliver high-impact solutions that reduce suffering and restore function. He believes that truly listening to patients and addressing their unique needs with compassion is key to long-term success in care.

Dr. Franklin’s Role in Advancing Minimally Invasive Urology

With a focus on innovation and evidence-based treatment, Dr. Franklin has contributed to the advancement of minimally invasive therapies, including sacral neuromodulation for bladder control. He has presented original research at leading national and international conferences such as the Société Internationale d’Urologie and the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s Genitourinary Cancers Symposium. His work has also been published in the World Journal of Urology. Dr. Franklin brings a proceduralist’s mindset and a patient first approach to the Bladder & Bowel Institute team.
